Brady Marine and Civil – Safety Leadership Challenge
Work Health and Safety Queensland holds bi-monthly Construction Industry Leadership Network Forums to discuss the challenges faced by principal contractors and subcontractors while developing systems and strategies to ensure site safety.
Mr David Brough from CCF QLD member Brady Marine and Civil spoke about the launch of their Safety Leadership Challenge at June Forum. Brady Marine & Civil are a specialist marine contractor with core capabilities in the construction of wharves, jetties, offshore pipelines, bridges over water and other marine based complex structures.
The Safety Leadership Challenge is a collaborative initiative that invites industry leaders to work with Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) and take a more visible role as safety leaders to improve the safety culture of their business and its supply chain. Mr Brough shared his experiences about progress on the implementation of the challenge.
Mr Brough noted the importance of conducting surveys and interviews to identify employee sentiment about WHS processes to understand the work site safety climate. In addition, communication was highlighted as a key factor in ensuring a safe working environment and in incident rectification.
