CopperString 2.0 Project
Formal Expressions of Interest (EOI) has been released for the $1.5 billion CopperString 2.0 project for the construction of the electricity transmission network infrastructure, which is more than 1000kms. The EOI is intended to identify suitable contractors able to participate in the Request for Proposal process for engineering, procurement and construction.
Construction is expected to commence later in 2020 or early 2021, depending on the completion and approval of contracts.
To secure the future of the resources industry across the Townsville to Mount Isa corridor the transmission line would deliver reliable and competitively priced electricity.
60,000 tonnes of steel for transmission towers and reinforcement in foundations is expected to be used during construction, as well as 125,000 cubic metres of concrete for the foundations and substations of the tower.
