COVID-19 UPDATE FOR MEMBERS
EASED RESTRICTIONS IN QUEENSLAND FROM 1 MAY 2020

Stay-at-home restrictions are set to ease for Queenslanders at 11.59pm Friday 1 May.

The Premier has announced that due to the apparent flattening of the COVID-19 curve, some of the stay-at-home rules have been relaxed.

From 1 May Queenslanders will be able to:

  • Go for a drive;
  • Ride a motorbike, jetski or boat for pleasure;
  • Have a picnic;
  • Visit a national park; and
  • Shop for non-essential items.

This is under the proviso that the following regulations are adhered to:

  • Social distancing and hygiene is maintained
  • You have to stay within 50km of home; and
  • Outings are limited to members of the same household or an individual and one friend.

All other rules, including gatherings and visitor limits remain. The Premier also said that if there is any sign of a spike in infections then restrictions will be restored. She urged Queenslanders to continue being vigilant so as not to undo the “hard work” already done.
