McIlwain and SGQ Joint Venture Awarded Contract
Congratulations to CCF QLD members McIlwain Civil Engineering and SGQ QLD on being awarded the contract for the combined delivery of the $121 million Rockhampton Northern Access Upgrade project and the $36 million Terranova Drive Intersection safety works.
The Rockhampton Northern Access Upgrade and Terranova Drive Intersection safety works will focus on addressing safety and capacity issues between the Bruce Highway intersection with Rockhampton–Yeppoon Road and Terranova Drive, approximately 7km north of Rockhampton.
The Bruce Highway is a critical strategic link for the state of Queensland that provides connectivity to all coastal and regional towns from Brisbane to Cairns. This section of Bruce Highway, north of Rockhampton, not only serves as the national highway, but also acts as the only arterial road to service the industrial, commercial and residential developments in the vicinity of Parkhurst.
This infrastructure project will include the duplication and upgrade of approximately 5km of the Bruce Highway including the construction of local road connections and four bridges. Works have already commenced on site and are expected to ramp up in 2019.
The duplication of the Bruce Highway north of Rockhampton will cater for increasing traffic demand for adjacent industrial, commercial and residential developments and will provide amenity, access and road safety outcomes for all road users.
In addition, the upgrades will include provisions for cyclist and pedestrian traffic.
