Peak Construction Body Welcomes Report into Infrastructure Construction Market HOME > Peak Construction Body Welcomes Report into Infrastructure Construction Market

On 25 September 2018, Australia’s peak representative body for the Civil Construction industry welcomed the announcement by Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack that he has commissioned a report into Federal Government procurement policy in the infrastructure construction sector.

Civil Contractors Federation (CCF) Chief Executive Officer Chris Melham said the Government’s $75 billion 10-year infrastructure investment program is playing an important role in driving economic growth, however, it can deliver stronger economic growth if the Federal Government’s procurement policy undergoes constructive reform.

The CCF also applauds Assistant Minister to the Deputy Prime Minister Andrew Broad’s comments directed at providing greater support for local construction contractors to be engaged on infrastructure projects being funded by the Commonwealth. This mirrors the long-standing official policy of the Civil Contractors Federation.
