QTRIP 2018-19 Industry Briefing
Last week, the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) held an Industry Briefing on the program works announced under Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program (QTRIP) 2018-19 to 2021-22. QTRIP is published annually and details the current transport and road projects to be delivered over the next four years to meet the infrastructure needs of our rapidly growing state.
The first session provided a QTRIP Overview and South East Queensland Regional Briefing which outlined Transport System Planning Program initiatives in addition to TMR’s contract and procurement processes for upcoming infrastructure projects. The session covered the upcoming projects in the Metropolitan, North Coast and Wide Bay/Burnett, South Coast and Downs South West regions. The second section provided an overview of the expected demand, supply and lead times for asphalt, bitumen and quarry materials required for TMR’s forward program.
Tuesday this week, the second Industry Briefing was held in Mackay. The first session provided an overview of the Transport System Planning Program and regional briefings for Central and Northern Queensland. The second session provided details on local Indigenous and small business engagement opportunities. It addressed questions surrounding Prequalification or Engineering Consultancy Scheme (ECS) registration, how to search for and utilise local and indigenous businesses and the Queensland Procurement Policy 2017.
Lastly, session three informed industry partners of the QTRIP projects that are planned to improve the network for heavy vehicles and any restrictions that impact on the construction industry (such as bridge loading issues).
