Shovel Ready Infrastructure HOME > Shovel Ready Infrastructure

The Prime Minister confirmed during a press conference that around $4 billion worth of infrastructure projects was being brought forward, plus a billion dollars in extra local government projects and infrastructure and transport are key areas where the government will be seeking to create and stimulate employment.

The challenge now is getting projects started.  Critical to this is deregulation, particularly in the area of the EPPC Act, and planning and development works.  There is a review underway now of the EPPC Act and when it has concluded the government hopes to see extensive progress in approving projects quickly.

The federal and state governments need to work together to pinpoint those projects that can commence as soon as possible.  It is also important that contractors have an ongoing supply of competitively priced materials and products, to guard against project expenditures increasing.

These are all items the government is working on.
